Student Organizations

I have been involved in the African Student Association (ASA) during my time at IU Indianapolis, where I served as both Vice President and now President. In these roles, I worked closely with my team to plan events, promote the organization, and create a welcoming environment for members. One of my biggest accomplishments was helping organize ASA Night, a large event with over 150 attendees, where I helped manage planning, sponsorships, and overall coordination. I developed strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. I also gained experience in event planning, problem-solving, recruiting and working with different people, which has helped prepare me for my future career in human resources.

My responsibilities as President and Vice President in ASA included:

  • Leading and working with a team to plan and organize events on campus

  • Coordinating ASA Night and managing event setup, sponsorships, and overall flow

  • Promoting events and recruiting new members to grow the organization

  • Supporting members and making sure everyone felt included and engaged
